Conference: 'Connecting Communities and Ecosystems in Restoration Practice'

The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) New England Chapter will hold its 2018 biennial regional conference at Southern on October 11-13, 2018. The conference will be jointly held with Connecticut Fund for the Environment/Save the Sound. Activities will include:

  • Keynote address in the Adanti Student Center ballroom on Thurs., Oct. 11, 6-7 p.m. 
  • Breakout sessions 
  • A "poster pub" on Fri., Oct. 12
  • Field trips to various ecological restoration sites around the area on Sat., Oct. 13

At this conference, we will highlight innovative projects and thinking that connects communities and ecosystems in restoration practice. Topics to be covered may include:

  • Restoration of urban, aquatic, and terrestrial systems
  • Appropriate targets for restoration
  • Restoration techniques
  • Post-project evaluation of success
  • Under-represented voices in ecological restoration
  • Traditional Ecological Knowledge
  • Community stewardship
  • Human dimensions of restoration

Ths is an important conference for stewards, students, researchers, regulators, and practitioners of restoration in the Northeast!
