Professor Terrell Ward Bynum
Terrell Ward Bynum is professor of philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University. Dr. Bynum has conducted workshops, given speeches and addresses, produced and hosted video programs, and published articles on computing and human values. His other publications include books, monographs, articles, and reviews in logic, psychology, history of philosophy, artificial intelligence, and education. He is a lifetime member of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, past chairman of the Committee on Professional Ethics of the Association for Computing Machinery, and past chairman of the Committee on Philosophy and Computers of the American Philosophical Association. In 1991, Professor Bynum served as co-chairman of the National Conference on Computing and Human Values funded by NSF.

The SCSU Research Center on Values in Emerging Science and Technology (RC-VEST) focuses on issues located at the intersection of science and values as implemented in emerging technologies. The center, comprised of faculty members from SCSU as well as other nearby universities, meets regularly to discuss cutting edge issues that arise in technology, medicine, and science. Throughout the academic year, RC-VEST proudly hosts a number of events aimed at placing science and scientific practice into a broader cultural context.
