Southern Connecticut State University

The City of New Haven has pledged to be part of the Sanctuary Movement by refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. This SJM program will take you to the center of the Sanctuary Movement in New Haven and the resistance against ethnic cleansing with a visit to one of the weekly meeting of New Haven immigrant rights activists at the First and Summerfield United Methodist Church on 425 College Street. During the meeting, participants will be able to meet Marco Antonio Reyes Alvarez of Meriden, an Ecuadorian immigrant who was scheduled for deportation and who is currently sheltered in the church.

Students will be provided with transportation from campus. A pickup location on campus will be announced.
