Buley Library

First Thursdays: an interdisciplinary forum for Southern faculty in the arts, humanities, and social sciences to present and discuss new scholarship, with special emphasis on emerging topics, methodologies, and areas of research in the 21st century.

October 5: Dr. Elizabeth Kalbfleisch (English) -- "Humanist and Anti-humanist Humanities: A New Way to
Understand the Canon Wars"
This talk re-considers the media spectacle of the 1980s known as the Canon Wars as a conflict between two humanistic paradigms - humanist and anti-humanist - rather than a conflict between liberal and conservative political ideologies.

All faculty are encouraged and welcome to attend.
