"The Philosophy and Science of Modeling Infectious Disease"

Dr. Bert Baumgaertner, University of Idaho

Thursday March 30th, 3:15-4:30 EN A120
Light refreshments will be served!

The study of health is just about as interdisciplinary as any field could be, drawing on biology, epidemiology, mathematics, and philosophy, to name a few related fields.  In this talk, Dr. Baumgaertner will describe the NIH-funded work that he does with an interdisciplinary team that he leads at the Center for Modeling Complex Interactions at University of Idaho. In particular, the focus will be on the modeling aspect of the project, which is where philosophy, math, and science most readily intersect.
