"The toy/ become the aesthetic archetype": Mina Loy and the Material Word
Ryan Coogan is a Ph.D. English literature student and graduate teaching assistant at Liverpool John Moores University. His current research explores the role of materiality in the literary and visual works of five 20th century poets who also engage with the visual arts.
In particular, his thesis examines key poems, art works and performances by Mina Loy, Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, Susan Howe, Joan Retallack and Paula Claire.
Ryan is currently co-teaching Modern and Contemporary American Poetry (ENG 366) with Associate Professor Charles Baraw in the SCSU English Department as part of an international exchange with Liverpool John Moores University.
